What a 'road kill' can become

Following the fortunate delivery of some highly figured Elm I couldn't help but turn as many bowls as possible, and do justice to both the wood and my friend who thought of me.
Several bowls resulted and I 'cored' each to save timber from each so another another smaller bowl could be extracted rather than creating shavings for garden mulch. Eventually nothing goes to waste.
These shots show one bowl straight off the lathe, then how it distorted.
How about the colour once a food friendly, natural oil finish was applied?
